iGaming Market Weekly Report: Aug 31-Sep 6, 2026

Regulatory actions were the most important factors behind this week’s performance of the iGaming sector. It was noted that Chile recorded a quite impressive +157.1% due to the decision of the regulator requiring six Internet service providers to block 42 websites with unauthorized betting and casino services. This was the major enforcement action of this reporting period and the biggest growth during this week.
Paraguay and Peru also obtained profits from their championship calendars. The most prominent gain for India was connected with the new coverage of a high-profile investigation into money laundering. In Canada, the authorities took measures regarding the prediction market in British Columbia.
The reason for the drop in this category is almost entirely regulatory. Cyprus, Russia, Bulgaria, Italy and Poland imposed and/or developed regulations blocking access to gambling services, payments, advertisements, or affiliates.
Top 5 Gainers of the Week
Chile (+157.1%)
In the latest week Chile saw the biggest jump after the Superintendence of Gaming Casinos handed over a list of 42 unapproved online gambling and casino URLs to the Subsecretariat of Telecommunications (Subtel). On September 1, Subtel ordered six ISP Government to apply DNS blocks within two days and furnish proof of compliance to the Santiago Court of Appeals.
Included on the list were mirror domains of the likes of Betano, Coolbet, Betsson, Stake, and bet365. The development was in line with the Supreme Court ruling of September 2025 that found illegal online gambling operations without relevant legal authorizations.
Paraguay (+124.4%)
However, football is the main driving force in the country. On September 5-6 the country hosted round nine of the Torneo Clausura, which saw Olimpia defeat Sportivo Trinidense 2-1 in the headline clash of the round. The winning goal by Hugo Sandoval in the 80th minute brought Olimpia to third place on 16 points. APF also revealed the fixtures for rounds 10 and 11 during this round, prolonging the search for football events in the country.
India (+71.6%)
India is now being more closely observed by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the Parimatch investigation. On September 2, a search was carried out in 17 premises across five states, leading to Rs 61 lakh in cash seizure and around Rs 37 crore in amounts frozen from bank accounts.
British Columbia (+62.3%)
The province of British Columbia has been experiencing increased scrutiny on the regulation of prediction markets. The Independent Gambling Control Office has announced on August 28 that contracts tied to entertainment and sports by unlicensed platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket are illegal gambling outside of PlayNow monopoly.
Peru (+49.9%)
Peru Liga 1 Torneo Clausura is following a tight domestic football schedule. Matchday 8 took place between September 4-6, which was highlighted by Sporting Cristal winning against Los Chankas (5-0) and Deportivo Garcilaso beating Atlético Grau 4-2 on September 6.
Top 5 Decliners of the Week
Cyprus (-69.7%)
Cyprus has reached the biggest decline since the House Audit Committee has presented its recommendations on the prohibition of the usage of the welfare payment by the Minimum Guaranteed Income recipients for gaming purposes.
The recommendations include the limitations on the benefit cards and reviews of the casino membership before people can enter.
Russia (-66.9%)
Russia’s national voluntary gambling self-exclusion register came into force on September 1. Citizens can now exclude themselves from legal betting, casinos, and online bookmakers for a minimum of 12 months through Gosuslugi.
Bulgaria (-53.1%)
On September 1, regulations requiring mandatory licensing for gambling affiliates were implemented. Now, affiliates will be required to pay a fee of €6,000 each year and their commissions will be subject to withholding tax of 10%.
In case they are found unlicensed, affiliates will be forced to comply immediately with the orders from the National Revenue Agency. This means they will be subjected to blocking within 24 hours after the notification.
Italy (-50.7%)
Italy’s Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) has ordered a ban on Lega Serie A’s campaign “True Data” pertaining to Matchday 2. ADM mentioned that there is a possibility for consumers to take the misleading messages from the campaign. Therefore, the campaign is considered illegal due to indirect promotion of gambling.
It is noted that the restrictions were made on August 31, which means that the new policy took effect at the very beginning of the period analyzed.
Poland (-50.2%)
Since September 1, Poland’s system has added a new level of control over payments since BLIK has created a function to block the payments to the websites from the list of illegal gambling provided by the Ministry of Finance.
Market spotlight: Chile (+157.1%)
Chile has had the biggest movements of the week with a surge of 157.1% on a week-on-week basis after Subtel has ordered six major ISPs to DNS block 42 urls identified by the Superintendence of Gaming Casinos. This is the first mass blocking under solutions since the legal framework established after the Supreme Court’s decision. The list includes foreign operators, local websites, and mirror sites, including those connected to Betano, 1xBet, Betsson, Stake, bet365 etc.
The timing of that move is important since Congress is still in the process of discussing Bill 14.838-03, aimed at establishing a formal licensing system for online gaming. Until this document is passed, authorities will rely on laws and court practices in blocking illegal operators.
