멕시코, 자금세탁 의심으로 Bet365와 Betano 차단

재무부 산하 금융정보분석원(UIF)은 인터넷 서비스 제공업체(ISP)에 Bet365.mx와 Betano.mx를 포함한 13개 온라인 및 오프라인 도박 사업자의 접속을 차단하도록 지시했습니다.
이 조사는 내무부(Segob)의 직접 승인이 없거나 현지 등록 회사에 부여된 제3자 라이선스를 통해 운영되는 플랫폼을 대상으로 합니다.
관계자들은 적절하거나 투명한 라이선스가 없는 사업자가 규제 감독 밖에서 금융 거래를 처리하는 것을 막는 것이 목표라고 밝혔습니다. 정부에 따르면 이러한 허점은 탈세, 사용자 데이터의 부적절한 관리, 자금 세탁을 포함한 불법 금융 활동 연루 가능성을 야기합니다.
최근 업계 수치는 현재 조사 중인 부문의 규모를 보여줍니다. H2 Gambling Capital의 데이터에 따르면 라틴 아메리카 온라인 도박 시장은 2024년에 70억 달러를 초과했으며 멕시코는 이 지역에서 가장 빠르게 성장하는 관할권 중 하나입니다. 라틴 아메리카 온라인 베터의 40% 이상이 멕시코에 거주하고 있습니다.
Bet365와 Betano는 Grupo Salinas 산하 자회사인 Ganador Azteca SAPI de CV와 Operadora Ganador TV Azteca SAPI de CV를 통해 현지에서 사업을 운영하고 있습니다.
이러한 차단 조치에 대응하여 Grupo Salinas는 이러한 주장을 부인하고 자사 회사가 멕시코 법률을 완벽하게 준수하고 있다고 주장하는 성명을 발표했습니다. 또한, 이 단체는 연방 당국이 회장인 리카르도 살리나스 플리에고를 겨냥한 정치적 의도의 행위를 저질렀다고 비난했습니다. Bet365와 Betano는 이 상황에 대해 별도의 성명을 발표하지 않았습니다.
단속의 또 다른 징후는 Google Play 스토어에서 Bet365 앱을 다운로드하려는 사용자에게 "이 항목은 해당 국가에서 사용할 수 없습니다"라는 알림이 표시되는 등 나타났습니다.
UIF는 조사가 진행 중이며 관련 기업에 대한 법적 조치를 최종적으로 결정할 것이라고 밝혔습니다. 그동안 멕시코 사용자는 이러한 플랫폼에 접속하지 말고 Segob의 명확하고 직접적인 승인을 받은 대체 플랫폼을 선택해야 합니다.
